Welcome. I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Calgary providing in-person and virtual therapy for teens, adults, and couples.

I have a particular interest in working with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and the lasting effects of difficult life experiences. Using EMDR therapy alongside other evidence-based approaches, I help clients process traumatic memories, reduce distressing symptoms, and develop a greater sense of safety, confidence, and connection in their daily lives.

I also support clients experiencing depression, stress, chronic pain, relationship difficulties, family conflict, and life transitions. My practice is inclusive and affirming of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and straightforward. I believe healing happens within a safe therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to move at a pace that feels right for them. Together, we will explore the challenges bringing you to therapy, build on your strengths, and work toward meaningful and lasting change.

For clients who wish to incorporate the mind-body connection into their healing, I also offer somatic and yoga-informed interventions alongside traditional talk therapy.

Marlies Wester is a Registered Provisional Psychologist specializing in trauma-informed therapy for children, teens, adults, and couples. She works with clients navigating the effects of past and ongoing trauma, including PTSD and complex trauma, intimate partner violence, relationship betrayal, narcissistic and emotionally abusive relationship dynamics, attachment wounds, and personality disorders. Her approach is grounded, compassionate, and collaborative, creating a space where clients feel safe, understood, and supported in doing meaningful, transformative work.

EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) form the foundation of Marlies’ practice, helping clients process painful experiences at their roots rather than simply managing symptoms. She also integrates principles from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to strengthen emotional regulation, relational patterns, and values-based change. Her integrative approach balances depth-oriented healing with practical tools for everyday life.

In addition to trauma recovery, Marlies supports clients navigating life transitions, identity exploration, grief and loss, and complex relational patterns. She is attentive to how early experiences and attachment dynamics shape emotional regulation, boundaries, and sense of self over time.

Marlies believes that healing is not about fixing what is broken, but about removing the barriers that prevent access to resilience, clarity, and potential. Her goal is to help clients move beyond survival patterns and toward a more grounded, empowered way of living—creating space for meaning, authenticity, and lasting change.
